CargoPit - Container / cargo helicopter
CargoPit creates a whole new definition of autonomous transport vehicles both as a single machine and as a complete transport system enabling a new concept of transport logistics.
The Cargopit has considerable structural commonality of systems and units with the PitPit helicopter, from which it uses a complete propulsion system. This is integrated into a strength truss structure allowing flight operations with or without the container.
The overhead container made of corrugated aluminium sheet has an internal volume of 2.2 m3, a length of 3.7 m, a width of 1.0 m and a height of 0.8 m. This enables the transport of a wide range of loads including, for example, the transport of a lying patient/injured person. The weight of the container is 20 kg.
The container is attached to the structure at four points after suspension and is part of the strength structure. If operation without the container is required, profiled tubular reinforcements are inserted into the suspension points to provide spatial rigidity to the load section of the airframe.
If no container is used, loads up to a total weight of 125 kg may be suspended from the straps. The span of the structure is 1040 mm. This allows the load to be suspended on all types of Europallets (1 - 6), preferably, in terms of weight, on plastic pallets with a maximum width of 1000 mm. In addition, BigBoxes of various types and manufacturers can be conveniently suspended. Long objects can be conveniently suspended in the space defined by the load section and safely secured against wobbling. This versatility enables the operational transport of loads, for example, during the construction of high-rise buildings or the transport of loads on the heliports of high-rise buildings.
The suspension points for the container and for suspension by straps are equipped with strain gauge load cells. Their outputs are compared with data on fuel quantity, altitude and temperature. This allows to ensure take-off with the correct maximum load weight and its correct centering.
The design of the CargoPit rotor system and the propulsion system as a whole allows for the efficient installation of control and guidance systems that are significantly simpler in nature compared to the systems required to operate traditional concept helicopters or multicopters.
The CargoPit can conveniently serve as a mothership for transporting drones of various types and, given its altitude range, can be used as a relay station.
For a description of the rotor function, operational characteristics and propulsion system concept, we refer to the description of the PitPit helicopter. The CargoPit has a slightly enlarged diameter of the carrier rotor.
